At Zildjian, we are always looking to create new products and sounds that “make some noise” throughout the Drum Community. Here are our Top Five Zildjian Cymbals that created the most buzz with drummers over the recent months.
1. Award Winning FX Series
In early 2015, we introduced five new models to our esoteric FX Series. Described as “diverse and often bonkers”, this line up won "Best New Cymbals for 2015” in the Rhythm Magazine Readers Poll and placed first and second in the Drummies Awards for China & Effect top cymbals. The Series includes:
10˝ & 12˝ FX Spiral Stackers: Stack these on top of any cymbal to create unique and trashy sounds, these cymbals have a quick attack and decay.
8˝ & 10˝ Oriental China ˝Trash˝ Cymbals: Thin in weight, they are compatible stacked with other cymbals or can be used on their own to add color to your kit.
7.5˝ FX Volcano Cup Zil-Bel: With a unique pitch due to its curvature, this “Volcano” cup bell provides a robust, quick attack with a long decay.
2. Kerope Medium Cymbals
In 2015 we offered an expanded weight range in the popular 20˝ and 22˝ Kerope Models. Based on feedback from drummers everywhere, this added weight is particularly attractive to players looking for more stick definition and playing in higher volume situations.
3. 19” & 20” K Custom Dark Crashes
MMR Magazine named the Zildjian K Cymbals as the “2015 Percussion Line of the Year”, and the release of these K Custom Dark Crashes was a big part of the reason why. The new, larger 19” and 20” diameters and larger bells are designed for more volume with slightly more sustain. Overhammering on top gives them slightly trashy overtones, and dirties up their sound.
4. 21” K Custom Organic Ride
Winner of a DRUMMIES! Gear Award for Best Ride Cymbal, we enlisted the input from world-renowned educator Pat Petrillo for the design of the K Custom Organic Ride. Its wire-brushed finish on top gives it clean, articulate stick definition, while the buffed, unlathed bottom allows the cymbal to open up, giving it plenty of crashability without washing out.
5. L80 Low Volume Cymbals
Voted by Music & Sound Retailer Magazine as the “Best Cymbals of 2015” these unique new cymbals deliver a 70 – 80% quieter sound without losing the authentic feel of a Zildjian Cymbal. Available in Cymbal Sets only that include 13" HiHats/18" Crash Ride, or 13” HiHats/14” Crash/18” Crash Ride, or 14” HiHats/16” Crash/18” Crash Ride, your neighbors will definitely thank you!
