One of the Zildjian/Vic Firth core values is “Live to Play”.  Simply put, to us, “Live to Play” embodies our passion for music and the culture we choose to build together as a company. We are driven to help everyone express themselves through the music they create. That’s why we get excited when opportunities like this one….where we can help support our retail partners AND live one of our values, come around.

Longtime partner, Music & Arts has a similar desire to ours, but even cooler is that they have taken it to the next level by hosting their 4th annual Battle of the Bands for Music & Arts employees! Employee bands from Maryland, Arizona, Tennessee, New Jersey, Virginia, and New York will travel to Music & Arts’ headquarters in Frederick, MD to compete for $27,000 in prizes and $3,000 in cash. All fans, employees, friends and family are welcome to come cheer on the bands at a free event on Thursday, July 12, 2018.

“Music & Arts believes in providing performance opportunities to our customers, lesson students, and employees. We’re proud to partner with the top names in the music industry, like Zildjian and Vic Firth, to provide a national stage for the talented musicians who work so hard for us every day.” – Renier Fee, Music & Arts Marketing Director, Frederick MD

In addition to the Zildjian and Vic Firth companies, the event is supported by generous contributions from partners like Fender, P. Mauriat, D’Addario, and Flying Dog Brewery.

Says Ryan Grasso, employee & percussionist of the band Tura Lura from Cedar Knolls, NJ, “We are excited because this is the first time we are playing outside of the New Jersey/NYC area and we are looking forward to meeting/playing with other bands from all over the country.”

“We're just super excited to be included in Battle of the Bands, “ says Tommy Clemans, Vocalist & Guitarist for Turbo Mansion from Henrico, VA. “We've been fans of Music & Arts for years, never thought we'd be here, but happy to be included and getting a chance to compete in this awesome event!"

On hand as one of the judges of the event will be Zildjian’s Cymbal Product Manager, Victor Filonovich. If you’re in the area, come out to support live music and say hello to Victor! The night promises to be a good time for all.

We would like to wish all the employee bands competing the best of luck! Break a leg!
